Pitch
I'd rather be dead is based on a
teenage boy who struggles to fit in at a new high school. But things are complicated because of the fact that he is a zombie. The target audience will be people between the ages of 10 and 14 due to the situations in the the show.
Krunk is a normal teenage boy hidden under layers of rotting flesh and an uncontrollable craving for brains. He has the I.Q of a turnip and like other teenagers struggles to fit in. He doesn't get the concept of doors, bowls, windows, or manners. But he can slowly learn with each passing day.
Krunks mother and father are like any other married couple. The mother cooks, cleans, and cares for her family and still is able to do all this with her career as a bio chemists . The father stumbles around destroying the house in the search for brains. The Each episode will explore different high school situations and how a zombie would deal with them. Staring with opening the front doors to get into the school. Krunk mother is always preventing chaos and the death of their cat at the hands of krunk and his father.

KRUNK
• Long pale face, medium length hair (messed and crazy), spaced out look all the time (eyes really dark and glossy)
• Favorite color is red
• Has a fear of Lawn mowers, Snow blowers,(snow blowers and lawn mowers just scare him because he hates the sounds) clip boards (as a child he is playing with one and gets his hand caught in it)
• He hates his neighbor
• Even though he’s zombie he can “slowly” learn things and shares a lot of human traits that most zombies don’t such as: growth, some understanding but very little, he does have the craving for brains but it is somewhat controlled but not so much (to describe that if somebody tells him to stop he might and sometimes the craving is just too much)
• How he turns into a zombie: to start things off, his mother is a Bio-chemist working on a top secret drug to reanimate dying cells. One day she accidentally brings home one small vile of the drug and on the drive home it falls into her grocery bag along side of the baby formula. When she gets home she tells Steven ( Krunks father) to feed Krunk ( he’s a baby at this point). So he goes into the grocery bags and pulls out the secret drug and tastes it and says “WOW!! We really feed our kids this stuff” and proceeds to put a bottle cap on the vile and feed it to Krunk.
• That story ends and it’s 13 years later and Krunk is now 14. His father has slowly turned into a Zombie over the years because of the small dose he had and his mother has struggled to keep control of Krunk and Steven. Krunk also has another brother who is 1 year older than him and he is perfectly normal. At this point the mother is trying to find a cure or antidote for Krunk and Steven in her super lab in their basement.
• Krunk is very active and adventurous, just all out curious. He is quite careless, clumsy, and always confused. He has many traits that make him a very unique zombie mainly the trait that he has feelings and he eventually falls in love with one of his friends Allison who helps him to fit in and learn math. He also has an archenemy named Sophie who is always trying to exploit him. Krunk is also amazingly lucky (all these different things happen to him that involves him winning something or being good at something without not realizing). At times he can be independent but most of the time he’s really dependent. He can be really sweet when he’s not searching for brains.
Steven (Father)
Steven is Krunk’s partial zombie Father yet as he enters the court room (he's a lawyer) his attitude completely changes and he is remarkably brilliant. He is known to always win his court room trials.
He also hates his neighbor
Like most zombies Steven had a mad obsession with brains and his house hold cat who he constantly wants to eat.
He suffers emotionally because his craving for brains is never satisfied. His wife tricks him into doing things buy offering him brains and she chains him to the wall at night to prevent him from nibbling at her skull.
He's terrified of vacuum cleaners, sprouting for a bad experience when he got his lips caught trying to catch a mouse the vacume had sucked up.
When Steven's with Krunk they get into devilish house hold mischief(such as their on the roof repairing shingles and Krunk hammers his hand to the roof and ends up sawing off his wrist). They have an excellent father son relationship.
Appearance- Steven only has a tiny bit of the zombie gene in him so his Zombie-ish looks are very subtle but his attitude is very much like Krunk's. He has short messy hair and can always be seen in a suit.
aw man! I dont know even where to start!
Im loving this!
No doubt, he should be active and adventurous, although he should be completely useless at everything. So when he is playing hockey. They put him in goal because he can hardly skate. But while in goal, they cannot score a single goal on him even though he hardly moves a muscle. Ever shot ricochets off his head, arms, legs…. Even sometimes resulting in his arms falling off (they just stitch it back on and its as good as new).
Also, it would be funny if he eats peoples brains without too much consequence. For example, if there is a bully beating up some geeky kids. Krunk comes up behind him, cracks his skull open and eats his brain. The kids are all like, “AW Thanks Krunk!”
Or when some guy is hitting on Allison and starting to get forceful with her. Krunk comes up with his super human strength, and eats the guys brain. Allison is like, “Oh Krunk! You are so sweet! That guy was really creeping me out.”
The principle has him in his office saying, “Krunk, can you just go one day without eating someone’s brain? I mean, it’s a little dramatic, don’t you think?” Krunk then gives an angry grunt at the principle, to which he quickly becomes scared and says, “Ok Ok! Calm down! You can still eat brains…….. just try to cut back a little. Our school population has gone down significantly this year so far with your victims.”
But then when some guy is hitting on Allison and starting to get forceful with her. Krunk comes up with his super human strength, and eats the guys brain. Allison is like, “Oh Krunk! You are so sweet! That guy was really creeping me out.”
Other episodes could be the kid running for student president. Sophie is also running and trying to rig the election. Krunk is also running through some mishap and has no real clue what’s going on, and ends up winning. As a celebration and to show his appreciation to his fellow students, he whips up his favorite meal to be served in the cafeteria for lunch. Deep Fried Brains. One for every student. YUM!
I like the way you think Tidby, however I'm not sure that we want everyone in school to know that he's a zombie. Theres so many funny situations that krunk could get into and it just makes it seem a heck of a lot funnier if there not aware that hes a walking corpse. Also to add to the cracking open skulls and slurping out brains, how far can we go with that? Isn't this suppose to be a show for a younger audience? However it would be hilarious with the Allison and forceful guy scene. As funny as that would be it would interfere with our Sophie character trying to expose him for what he is. You'll understand why in one of our spring board suggestions located below.
Nathan- Spring Board: When the crow population in Krunks neighborhood sky rockets, It seems they are out to get him. Krunk must find a way to fend off the sinister flock. But he will need help to do so.
John- Spring Board: Allison gets ask out by a guy and Krunk is in a complete state of fury. They go to the drive in movies together with krunk secretly hiding in the backseat. Throughout the night krunk prevents them from doing any hanky panky activities. I know this has been done a million times but we can put a zombie spin on it.
Jeff- Spring Board: When Sophie realizes that her low-tech equipment won't get the job done, she buys newer more advanced gadgets to aid her in her mission to reveal krunk for what he is. We can make this real funny but cause it makes you think how she can get this super advanced infer-red goggles and stealthy black spy suits etc.
Kelsey- Spring Board: Krunk discovers love letters in his locker and thinks they are from Allison. But discovers they are from a creepy goth girl who has a mad obsession with him and stalks him for the rest of the episode.
Brandon- Spring Board: Krunk is over at his friend chucks house and is watching him play his favorite video game. Chuck asks him if he would like to play against him and learns that krunk is the unbeatable gaming god. In this episode we could have him in a scene where he's dominating the online gaming world then we could cut to a scene where hes trying to play chess.
Your springboards are hilarious - keep it up. How about an opening pilot episode? Are you ready for that?
Yeah I'm pretty sure were ready for a pilot. We've got an idea that the first episode will be about krunks first day of high school. We've agreed that he's been home schooled his whole life and his mother thinks that he's ready to interact with the kids of grade 10. We just have to work on the details of what will happen to him, perhaps a lunch seen and he's searching the vending machines for brains. We'll work on it.
Hummmmm....... Ok. So hes a Zombie, but no one knows it. So, hes like a Half Zombie then? Like maybe his mom became a zombie while she was pregnant, and he came out only half.
Ok.... Im gonna think about this. I guess we will need to figure this out sooner than later. Make a story and convince me that it would be better to have no one know that he is a Zombie. Wouldn't people be able to pick up on something being strange about him? On the other hand, if he was a full out Zombie, and everyone knew that he was, it would be widely accepted. Still, the person who would truly hate him and want him out of the school would still be Sophie.
Fantastic Ideas everyone! Great work!
Oh, and I read my last post, and I noticed that I must have copied and pasted a part of it two times. Sorry about that.
We began filming our "In class" pilot. And we started off with the door scene. It is simply awsome! you have to see it! We are going to move on to his first meeting with sophie, and the "Gaming scene. You will love it.
