From October 3rd to the 5th JMH students had a guest presenter in their school. Andrew Tidby is a film and television producer/director (jack of ALL trades in the business) and owns his own production company (Tidby Pictures Ltd. - http://www.tidby.com/) which has produced several award winning Television shows and short films.
Andrew was on hand to discuss his experiences, how he worked his way up from a lowly assistant camera operator and assistant editor position to calling the shots on million dollar budget shoots and promoting Canadian Television content worldwide.
The students had an inspirational experience with Andrew and are eager to take their projects to the next level!

I thought that the three days we spent with Andrew Tidby was extremely informative. I learned a lot about film editing and the film and television industry. His stories were very entertaining and I look forward to his future visits to the district.
I felt that tidby was a real eye opener to me. I never that that my goofy idea's and personality good be channeled into a possible Tv show! I never really knew what I was gonna do after highschool but this might be a possibel idea
I thought Andrew's visit to our class was fun, informative and interesting. He has a very fun personality which made it interesting and it made me want to listen. He has some true talent and he knows how to use it. I'm glad he taught us a few things.
Well, Mr.Tidby, this is kinda of wierd but i have always wanted to try acting in a tv show. I alwasy thought that i came accross humourus. Our new tv show idea is 10 times better we'll have to pitch it to you. This going to be a great project!
Well, I enjoyed Mr.Tidby’s visit. He’s full of energy and just makes my life. I’m excited for this project it’s the first time I thought about writing a television show. It’s amusing to see everyone’s thoughts come out in such a creative manner.
I thought the presentation with Andrew Tidby was really interesting. I'm really enjoying this project our Writing and Multimedia class is doing!
I thought that Mr. Tidby’s visit was both entertaining and Informative. He was really funny to listen to, and he had a couple of pretty good stories to share with the class. Hearing what he had to say about the film industry made me realize how many different kinds of jobs there were, and how hard it really is. Anyways, I’m glad we got the opportunity to do this project with Mr. Tidby.
I really enjoyed Tidby’s visit, he was very enthusiastic and made me want to listen. It's awesome because I wasn’t shy to share my ideas he made me feel very open to try new things. I am very glad for the time we spent with him it was a opportunity to share ideas and learn new things.
Mr. Tidby’s visit to the class was a very fun and interesting experience, he told us about how he got to where he is and a few funny stories on what happened to him on his travels. The way he explained things were very clear and informative to me; also it was an inspiration on what people can do if they try.
I really enjoyed Tidby's visit to our class! Not only was it a really fun experience but I learned a lot from him and enjoyed his entertaining stories! He helped us a lot with our project and I hope to see him at the school again! :)
Unfortunately I missed the first day Mr. Tidby came to the class but I was lucky enough to be there for the rest. We’ll probably never forget his visit because he had such a great personality. I am glad that he came to our school and we had the chance to meet him and the opportunity to work on this project. It’s a great look at what goes on behind the scenes of our favorite shows, makes us see the hard work that goes into making them.
I thought it was really cool and funny, I never thought of creating movies and television at all until his visit. His personality was very interesting and entertaining. I would love for him to visit our class in the future.
I thought that Andrew Tidby coming to the school was fun, I enjoyed his visit. I found he was very easy to listen to, he had a lot of stories to tell that I found easy to not fall asleep to. He made the movie business sound actually achievable.
The visit that we had by Tidby was pretty interesting, it was cool to hear all his stories about his past experiences like diving the fancy sports cars and his kissing experiences and all that fun stuff that he went through. He had so much energy and that’s what made his visit so interesting, any other persons that would have came in I probably would have fell asleep, it was great that he had so much enthusiasm.
I think that Tidbys visit with our class was pretty cool. Tidby is a funny guy and knows how to keep you at the edge of your seat. Now that I know more about editing I think it will be fun to make a movie.
I really enjoyed meeting with Tidby. He brang lots of different and exciting ideas to our class. I'm glad to have met Tidby :)
I enjoyed Tidbys presentation because he made it very exciting and easy to follow. I enjoyed the exercises as well because it makes you think. This also makes me think twice about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It was really interesting.
I thought that the visit with Andrew Tidby was really fun! I have to admit when I first saw Tidby I couldn't believe that he was some big movie person; but after listening to him I was like wow! I thought the visit was a really informative thing. It was a great look into the Movie business; and I'm really happy we all the opportunity.
At first, Tidby's presentation was intense. He had so many things to tell us all at once. It was hard to believe some of the things he has gone through in his life, both good and bad. However, he taught me that if I find something I'm passionate about, to pursue that dream and not to let anyone tell me I can't achieve that goal. Mr. Tidby has definitely become a role model for the way I want to live my life.
Mr. Tidby was very entertaining. He was full of energy, and his presentations were fun. It was very nice of him to make time for us..
I think that Tidbys visit was really cool, I really enjoyed all this stories and I appreciate all the help he gave us for our pitch.
